As a parent of an adult child with special needs, I can remember the angst my husband and I felt as she was getting older.  What will happen to her when we no longer are able to take care of her?  I remember going to the Arc of Wake County and speaking with Susan Read, the director at the time.  My daughter was only 13 years old.  I asked Susan at what point should I start looking into adult services for my daughter.  She said, “Right now!”  Here’s a great article to get you going.
